The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been alerted in this case. The use of calcium carbide to artificially ripen fruits has been prohibited by the FSSAI. Also, FSSAI informed food business operators (FBOs), traders, and fruit handlers who operate ripening rooms.
