In this video, Amelia reviews the latest sub-compact SUV offering from Kia to Australia. The all-new 2021 Kia Stonic in it’s top GT-Line trim.
Does that mean it is plush and packed with advanced equipment? Well, not really. What it means is that it is a higher version of the Kia Rio with a few added perks and that much loved elevated driving position.
In terms of design, the Stonic follows the ideas of its more expensive siblings, incorporating their styling direction into its smaller body.
There are two engine options to choose from and I have the more hardcore one. Now there's a little irony in my voice in case you couldn't tell. Because you see, the ‘more hardcore’ version has a 1 L 3-pot engine that produces 74 kW and 172 Nm. The good news is that this engine has direct injection and it turbocharged, so all the torques are available from 1500 revs all the way up to 4000. This engine is paired exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and it officially consumes 5.4 L per 100 km.
The other powering option available to the Kia Stonic is a 1.4 L multi-point injection 4-pot with 74 kW as well, but 133 Nm. That one’s also paired with a 6-speed auto or a manual.
Rivals for the Kia Stonic include the Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Yaris Cross, Ford Puma, and other subcompact SUVs.
