The use of wo compound and da compound is very common in German language and is used in specific situations.
In German language there are some verbs which take specific prepositions. German verbs with specific prepositions have been discussed previously in other lessons of free German language course. Whenever we want to ask a question about the object of preposition, then the concept of wo and da compound comes in play.
There are many German prepositions to which we can apply the rule of wo and da compound. This lesson of free A2 German course explained accusative prepositions "für" and "an" with the help of examples. Wo compound is used before the accusative preposition when question is asked about something. If question is asked about someone, then wo compound is not used, instead für wen is used.
If preposition starts with vowel, then an "r" is added between the wo compound and the preposition starting with the vowel.
