Cool, endearing Pac-Man like maze game with some cool twists-- one is that you don't have any defense per se against the enemies, but you can either push revolving doors to block the path of enemies that can't push them; or you can goad them into colliding with skulls which kills them but puts another in their pen. The enemies are various grubs, bees, etc. (often hard to determine) and you are the titular insect looking to eliminate all the dots in the maze (actually x's) to advance, but there's more to it than that.. you can increase the value of the dots (and any letters that can spell out EXTRA for an extra life or SPECIAL for a free credit) by running over the 3 heart icons.. but only when they are blue. Yes, various things in the maze will change colors, depending where the band wrapping around the maze is. You must run over the SPECIAL letters only when they are red (lasts only a nanosecond), and the EXTRA letters only when they are yellow. When the band wraps around one time, an enemy emerges from the pen. If 4 enemies have emerged from the pen you get the bonus vegetable/fruit appearing in the pen. But any enemies killed by a skull return to the pen and replace the vegetable/fruit. Try to collect it; it gets to be a nice value of up to 9,500 points! Getting killed resets the number of enemies in the pen to one. You really need good controls-- like keyboard arrow keys or a really good joystick-- to move fluidly through the revolving doors with ease. Note that the enemies will quickly move faster than you as you pass a handful of levels. LADY BUG is a timeless classic that showed the creative skills of Universal even before the first Mr. Do game!
