It is May 1991 and we are on the Midland Main Line, at Harpenden, late afternoon. We see Thameslink services in the hands of calss 319 EMUs and Inter-City workings in the hands of a couple of class 47 loco hauled trains and Inter-City 125 HST's. A couple of parcel trains are worked with class 47s, while on freight workings are a 56 on the Forders Binliner, and a 58 on the Northfleet Cement Works MGR coal train.
