In this episode of the Big Focus Afrida, Rahman Ali will be discussing the meeting of India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. Both the leaders held a one-hour meeting in Bali focusing primarily on the lingering border row in eastern Ladakh, the issue of return of Indian students to China, and the resumption of direct flights between the two countries. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Jaishankar reaffirmed the importance of "fully abiding" by bilateral agreements and protocols, and the understandings reached between him and Wang in their previous conversations.
"There is no mutual trust b/w India, China", said Suresh Kumar Goel, former ambassador.
"This is a time when Chinese feel they need to engage with India," said Captain Alok Bansal (Retd.) Director, India Foundation.
