Since Nathan and QE seem to have some difficulty figuring out a sextant (reading the instructions that come with it might help) I thought I'd offer a little advice.
Bottom line- we know how a sextant works, it REQUIRES a globe and distant celestial objects. That is a DEFINITION and not subject to debate.
