Experiment with a hacked cassette player, music thing modular magnetophon, and koma field kit.

Koma field kit controls tape speed, a hacked tape head picks up the audio and sends it to the magnetophon. Audio is noisy because the head was held in place with blue tack, with unshielded cable, and sent to a battery powerd mini amp recored through my phone, but as I say, it's an experiment!
