Somnath Temple is a Hindu temple located in prabhas patan,veraval in Gujarat, India.It is also called as Deo patan. One of the most scared pilgrimage sites for hindus & is believed to be first among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva.
Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni attacked India 17 times between 1000 & 1024 AD in order to plunder the wealth from the country.It was the first Turkish invasion in the country.The temple interior already has 130 kgs of gold plates.
No one other than the priests is allowed to enter the" Grabha Griha" of somnath Temple.There is no specific dresscode.It is spot where Shiva appeared as a fiery column of light.
Somnath Temple is a high security area.You will be screened & frisked once at the time of entry & no electronic are allowed as mobile, Bags Camera 📷, auto car keys etc
The temple opens at 6:00 AM & closes at 10:00 PM & Sound show timing --8:00 PM to 9:00PM & Aarti timing --Morning 7:00 am,Noon-12:00 & Evening 7:00pm
