How much bandwidth do your devices need?
When it comes to the internet bandwidth a device requires, the type of device doesn’t matter. In other words, a laptop, mobile phone, or tablet could all have the same bandwidth requirements.
This is due to the fact that the internet activity the device is performing determines how much internet bandwidth it needs, not the type of device it is.
To makes things easy on us as consumers, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published a reference document that details the minimum bandwidth requirements for different internet activities.
This reference is extremely useful when troubleshooting why a device may have poor internet performance. This is also helpful when trying to determine the internet plan that’s best for your home network.
Check out the FCC’s published document in the link above, or tune into the video I put together for a breakdown of how much bandwidth each type of internet activity requires.
