This is the story as I reported on the landing of the Space Shuttle Discovery at Edwards Air Force Base / Dryden Flight Center in California in 2000. This was STS-92, the 100th mission of the Space Shuttle. Bad weather had forced the shuttle to land at Edwards instead of Kennedy, the first time in more than ten years. This story is from early in my career as a journalist, when I worked part-time at Your 23 News in Bakersfield, California. I wish the quality was better on my original source tape.
