The 2025 Porsche Taycan is entering its second generation, but the updates are more in line with a mid-cycle refresh than a complete overhaul. Porsche has introduced fresh trims for the electric sedan and wagon, with more options available in the GTS and Taycan 4 variants.
Starting with the more performance-focused GTS, Porsche has amped it up to a thrilling 690 horsepower when the overboost function is engaged. This represents a significant 100-horsepower bump over the previous model. The GTS now comes standard with the Sport Chrono package, featuring a push-to-pass button that boosts output by 93 horsepower for ten seconds, offering extra kick on demand. This power hike helps the GTS shave down its zero-to-60 miles per hour time by 0.4 seconds, reaching the mark in a rapid 3.1 seconds for both the sedan and the more spacious Sport Turismo version. The sedan sprints the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds, about 0.7 seconds quicker than before. To add more excitement, Porsche has enhanced the car’s sound profile with its Electric Sport Sound, initially developed for the Taycan Turbo S, which makes for a more dynamic experience despite the absence of a traditional engine.
Pricing for these upgrades reflects Porsche’s premium positioning. The GTS sedan is priced at $149,895, while the Sport Turismo comes in at $151,795, including a destination fee of $1,995. Both models are about $8,945 more expensive than their predecessors.
Additionally, the Taycan 4 is now available as a sedan, expanding options for buyers who want all-wheel-drive capabilities at a lower price point. This version of the Taycan provides 402 horsepower with the standard battery and can go up to 429 horsepower with the upgraded battery. Launch control brings the Taycan 4 from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds, which is just a touch quicker than the rear-wheel-drive model. For efficiency, the Taycan 4 can switch to rear-wheel drive by disconnecting the front motor in specific driving conditions, re-engaging it within milliseconds when needed.
Porsche is pricing the Taycan 4 sedan at $105,295, and it includes standard features like an adaptive air suspension, matrix LED headlights, and a 10-speaker sound system.
Despite these updates, Taycan sales have been struggling globally, particularly in China. Porsche delivered only 14,042 units through the first nine months of this year, representing a drop of 50 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
