Ms. Maria Ahmed BScN, RN, MHSc is a Clinical Analyst in Clinical Information at Ontario Shore Centre for Mental health Sciences. As a Clinical Analyst, she supports the development and advancement of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) at Ontario Shores, In addition, she works to optimize patient workflow and provides support to nurses and allied health using the EHR Maria has also supported the development and implementation of changes in Meditech on projects such as Plan of Care, Clinical Practice Guidelines, Patient Portal, Eating Disorders Unit and Meditech Upgrades. Maria also worked closely with staff and practice leaders to lead Meditech orientation for new hires and education related to Meditech upgrades, and refresher trainings.
Ms. Stella Ducklow is a mental health advocate, artist, and Peer Support Specialist at Ontario Shores. Before joining Ontario Shores in 2014, Stella worked under Dr. Stan Kutcher as the Artist in residence for the Sunlife Chair of Adolescent Mental Health from 2010 to 2013. Her art work on the subject on mental health from a survivor perspective has been featured in government galleries and purchased by the Canadian Council for the Arts Bank.
Ms. Erica Dutschek, MSW, RSW, is the Professional Practice Leader (PPL) for Social Work and the Family Resource Centre Coordinator at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. She completed her Masters in Social Work with a focus in Health and Mental Health at the University of Toronto. As Family Resource Centre Coordinator, Erica assists families along their parallel journey of recovery, through connection to other families, services, and access to information. She had co-developed the Family Education Series, and co-facilitates Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) for Families. In her role as PPL, Erica is responsible for advancing the practice of Social Work at Ontario Shores. This includes using the EHR to its full functionality and optimizing the electronic documentation for Social Workers, supporting the professional development of Social Workers through the training of new hires, improving the utility of Social Work documentation, and ensuring data quality to meet the practice standards as set out by Ontario Shores and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Erica continues to promote family recovery and seeks to strengthen Social Work practice within Ontario Shores.
Dr. Ilan Fischler, MD, FRPC, completed his medical training at the University of Toronto in 2002 and a residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto in 2007. He joined Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in July 2007 as a staff psychiatrist in the Geriatric and Neuropsychiatry Program. At the University of Toronto, Dr. Fischler is a lecturer with an appointment in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry and he has been involved in the teaching program for residents and medical students. He was the Physician Champion for Project EASIER, helping to bring integrated electronic health records to Ontario Shores since 2009 and is currently the Medical Director, Clinical Informatics. In this capacity he has helped Ontario Shores receive recognition as the first hospital in Canada and first psychiatric hospital in the world to achieve HIMSS Stage 7. He has held numerous leadership positions at Ontario Shores including Interim Physician-in-Chief from April 2010 until May 2011. Dr. Fischler has an interest in interprofessional education and the implementation of clinical practice guidelines and gives numerous presentations on topics relevant to seniors’ mental health and the utilization of technology to advance the quality of clinical care.
