What a pleasure it was to meet Helen Clapcott this week and sit down with her chat about her work at the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery Greek Street Stockport, SK3 8AB Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery hosts the highly anticipated retrospective exhibition, *A Portrait of Stockport*, by renowned Northern artist Helen Clapcott. Over 100 of Helen’s artworks are on display, including standout pieces *The Power Station*, *The Last Carnival*, and *Brinksway 1979, Before The Motorway*.
Visitors can also enjoy a 20-minute video on Helen’s work by Tony Halton Films and the first major monograph on the artist, "In the Light of Buildings," authored by Andrew Lambirth Clapcott’s career spans decades, and her work captures the transformation of Stockport’s post-industrial landscape into a modern town.
Supported by Stockport Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the exhibition is a key event in the gallery's calendar, with SAS Daniels as its main sponsor.
Who is Helen Clapcott?
