Caramelized Onion Tart with Gruyère Cheese

Ingredients:
• 2 teaspoons of all-purpose flour
• 1 sheet of frozen and thawed puff-pastry
• 1 cup shredded gruyere cheese
• 3 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
• 1 large or 2 medium size peeled yellow onions, thickly sliced then sliced in half to look like half-moons.
• 2 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
• 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small ¼” cubes
• Salt to taste
• Balsamic glaze
Serves: 9
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 40 minutes
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400°.
2. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of flour on a clean surface. Place the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the flour and then sprinkle the remaining 1 teaspoon of flour over top the puff pastry.
3. Roll out the dough until it is roughly 16”x10” in size.
4. Transfer it to a sheet tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Evenly sprinkle on the cheese leaving a 1” border on the puff pastry.
6. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of the thyme over the cheese.
7. Next, place the onion halves slightly overlapping one another completely covering the cheese.
8. Brush the tops of the onions and puff pastry border with the heavy whipping cream.
9. Evenly sprinkle the butter all over the onions.
10. Season the onions with salt and bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until well browned.
11. Garnish with remaining 1 teaspoon of thyme and balsamic glaze, and serve.
