The Pelicans’ commentary crew is not the greatest in the league. Not the worst, not even close, but not very exciting or noteworthy. However, they are docked a few points tonight for their outrageous gaffe tonight.
When Norris Cole set a new career high in points on his last bucket of the night, they DIDN’T EVEN MENTION IT. That’s like commentary 101! When a dude accumulates more points than he has ever accumulated in his whole career, you talk about it. A bunch. You get excited, maybe even show a sweet graphic with the number of points and a little yellow thing that indicates the career-highness of the event.
Instead, we get nothing. And we continued to get nothing even after Norris hit two free throws to extend his career high to a LeBron-jealously-inducing 26. This happened last time Norris got a career high as well, just a few games ago. Total silence from Joel Meyers. But the second Anthony Davis does anything, he’s right on top of it, slobbering any knob he can find. Disgusting.
