China is building an oil pipeline from Gwadar to Kashgar under CPEC. This project will be another major step forward in the relations between Pakistan and China. With this project, China will receive 17% of its oil imports from the pipeline. Funding for the project will be provided by the Chinese government and the Frontier Work Organization (FWO). The Silk Road has been built by the FWO and the Chinese want to make better use of it through the pipeline project. According to estimate, 17 billion barrels of crude oil reserves will pass through daily. The 3000 km long corridor will connect Gwadar with Kashgar. Remember that China is currently importing 6 million barrels of oil per day by sea from different countries and the proposed pipeline project will be able to deliver 17% of its oil of this supply chain. The sea route from Gwadar port to China will be reduced by 2500 kms and the route from Gwadar to Kashgar will be reduced by 2800 kms as Kashgar is 4500 kms away from Shanghai Port.
