7.62x54R, a great hard hitting surplus round that is reasonable inexpensive and available. When I first started shooting the Mosin in the mid-80's ammo was expensive and hard to find. Now with the fall the Soviet Union it has gotten much more available and inexpensive. I would give the Czech machine gun ammo a miss and go for the Chi-Com rounds or if you can find the Russian and Hungarian loadings. Privi-Partisan with the reloadable brass cases are my hands down favorite though.
