Everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we are taking a look at the Optronics LED clearance or side marker light. This is going to have that reflex reflector, so as I'm turning it you can kind of see that it's picking up the light and reflecting it back to you. So, even if the light isn't actually on, it'll still alert people that there is a trailer nearby so it keeps you safe when you're out on the road or when your trailer is parked somewhere. This is also going to be a surface mount light, so just mounts wherever you need it to be.
You can use this as a side marker or a clearance light since because of the design, it doesn't really show up to use it as both, so you need to use it for one or the other. So it is P2 rated. That's what that means is basically it needs to be one or the other. This does accept the industry standard two prong plug at the back. We've got a lot of options available. Should look something like this, just plug that in place at the back of the light and it'll give you all your wiring functions.
So, it makes it pretty easy to get installed. Just going to smush that down there and then we'll have the two wires to connect. The white wire to ground, black wire to power. And then we should be good to go. The nice thing about this light again is that it is LED, so we won't have to worry about any brittle filaments that can break.
Should last a lot longer and be a much more efficient light than your typical incandescent bulb. It is going to be white diodes with a red lens over the top. It's compatible with 12 volt DC systems, and it's typically going to be a lot brighter than your incandescent bulbs, and we don't have to worry about any kind of maintenance with this.It is sonically sealed so it's going to be waterproof, so it's going to work out really well for any kind of marine trailers, and also just to help prevent any kind of dust ingress as well. So should be a really long lasting light for you. I'm going to turn the light out in the studio so you can get a better idea of what that looks like in the dark.
So, we'll have eight diodes total. Hard to see there, move it around, you might be able to tell a little bit better. So should provide a good warning for any other drivers of for coming to a stop or if we just have our lights on. I'm going to turn the lights back on, and we can go over some dimensions. The wiring that I have it plugged up with or hooked up to here, this is sold separately. There are a lot of options available so you can pick that up right here at etrailer.com. You can also get a recessed grommet, something like this to put that into helps to kind of clean up the look of the light and also gives a little bit of a road shock protection. These are also available, sold separately. As far as the diameter, it's going to be two and a half inches wide from outside edge to outside edge, and then the lens is about three quarters of an inch tall, overall to the end of the little prongs there, it's about an inch and an eighth. The power draw at 12.8 volts is 0.047 amps. So, very low power draw shouldn't pull too much on your battery or anything like that. It is DOT compliant and again, P2 rated. And that's going to do it for our look at the Optronics LED clearance or side marker light.
