In this video we will take you to the Royal Chhatri of Orchha. Chhatri means a mausoleum which was specially built in the memory of kings
Chhatris or monuments are among the most popular heritage sites in Orchha. These are the tombs of the former rulers of the Bundela dynasty of Orchha. There are 14 of these tombs or monuments, dating from the 16th to the 18th centuries. They stand on the banks of the Betwa River as cubical structures with temple-like shikharas and make a mesmerizing sight. They are built like temples and have a chamber in the center, and four others on the four corners of the courtyard. The chhatris have shikharas (spirals) on top that closely resemble temples built in the Nagara style. The most notable of these is the Chhatri of Bir Singh Dev, which is like a palace, and attracts admirers from across the country
