Bishop Joseph Garlington: We’ve Got to Deal to Heal (2 Timothy 3:12)
Bishop Garlington speaks at the Young Prophets gathering in Nashville in October 2020.
Quotes: We cannot live in a world of prophets and teachers where we are willing to accept substandard living compared to high quality gifts. You cannot preach the word and avoid persecution. Persecution is a conspired effort by people to produce in you a failure to accomplish what your assignment. You can't get out of this world without dying you can't proceed in the Kingdom of God seriously without dealing with persecutions. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” Jesus comes up from baptism and is immediately led into the wilderness by Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of being tempted by the enemy. Mark says Jesus “was driven by the Spirit.” Sometimes He leads you and sometimes he drives you, but the goal is to get you there. There is a wilderness moment that is going to test you with the prophetic word.”
Be blessed.
Remember: you have been “blessed to be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2)

As Britney Spears said to her second husband, “I won't keep you long.”
A number of years ago I was preparing
to go to a meeting and the day before the meeting I
had some intense fellowship with my wife.
She was articulating, very specifically, some issues that she saw in my life that
I needed to deal with. She did it on three different occasions.
Each time she spoke, it was in the precise order that she had done it before.
I mistakenly prayed these words, “Lord, if there's any truth to what this
woman is saying, will you confirm it?”
As I was walking out the house to go to another meeting (that she
had already complained about), the doorbell rang
and at the door were three prophets.
Two of them were my brothers and one was my cousin.
They said, “We came here to minister to you.”
They began to speak the same words that my wife had shared
in the same order.
I was so taken aback that they were confirming the words my wife had spoken.
Then they said, “You have a gift of ministry – God has blessed, you He's
touched your life, and at various points in your ministry
He has backed you into a corner so He could deal with you.
In the past He had let you out. This time He has you in a corner.
If you want to get out, He will let you, but He will never use you again.
I cancelled my plans and got down before God to pray.
In order for God not to use you, you have to let God have his way in your
life and address your issues.
People are more attracted to your charisma than they are to your character.
Your spouse knows your character, but your congregation doesn't.
I began to pursue the heart of God and being right with Him.
It has not been a perfect journey but it's the best way to go.

Mark 10:29-30
Those who have left their houses, their lands, their parents, or
their families for My sake, and for the sake of this good news will
receive all of this 100 times greater than they have in this time—
houses and farms and brothers, sisters, mothers, and children,
along with persecution.
You can't get out of this world without dying you can't proceed in the
Kingdom of God seriously without dealing with persecutions.

The last thing Jesus heard from the Father is the first thing
He heard from the enemy.
The Father said, “This is my beloved Son...”
The enemy said, “If you are the Son…”

The power of ridicule tries to dilute the power of the authentic.
Isaiah 28:15
We have made a pact with death; we’ve made a deal with the grave.
When the scourge of disease and doom comes our way, they won’t touch us.
Death and the grave will pass us by for our fraud disguises us,
and deception is our shield.
