(24 Sep 2012) 007 DAYS OF BOND
The seven day Bond Blu-relay arrived in London Monday (24 SEPT 2012) - the final stop on its tour - bringing the golden briefcase carrying the Bond 50 Blu-ray Collection to Oxford Street's HMV store.
Iconic Bond girl Britt Ekland, who played Mary Goodnight in "The Man With The Golden Gun," carried the briefcase to the store in an Aston Martin - the same one used in the Bond movie "Quantum of Solace."
Ekland, along with actor Richard Kiel, who played the villain Jaws, met visitors and presented one lucky Bond fan with the golden briefcase, which contains all the Bond movies signed by all of the participating Bond stars.
"I've just brought the entire Bond 50 Year Blu-ray collection in the Aston Martin from 'Quantum of Solace' here to HMV and I've given the biggest Bond fan in Britain the whole case, and it's a magnificent case. It's 22 DVDs with all the goodies on it and it's in Blu-ray, so it's obviously fabulous," said Ekland.
The actress also explained why the Bond films have remained so popular for the last 50 years.
"I think it has very good looking men in it (laughs) and obviously good bikinis. I think also it's a very lovely kept formula, it has never sold itself, it's never gone outside the frame of what is decent and I think the Broccoli - Wilson family have done a fantastic job keeping it attractive and wanting more. And of course they haven't given it you every year, hence there is only 22 films," she said.
The briefcase has travelled the length of the U.K.
It has stopped at various Bond locations along the way - including Eilean Donan Castle (The World Is Not Enough); Lochgilphead (From Russia With Love); Penbryn Beach (Die Another Day); Nene Valley Railway (Octopussy, Goldeneye); Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire (Goldfinger, Tomorrow Never Dies) and The Eden Project in Cornwall (Die Another Day), before reaching its final destination in London.
During its 900 mile journey, the briefcase has also been carried and signed by Bond legend Sir Roger Moore, actresses Eunice Gayson, Shirley Eaton, Tania Mallet, Academy Award-winning Costume Designer Lindy Hemming, Stunt Coordinator Paul Weston and director John Glen.
