Laurent Bili, Ambassador to France in the US, along with Consulate General Caroline Monvoisin and many distinguished French & American military members sang the “La Marseillaise”, French National Anthem at the French Memorial in Yorktown, Virginia.

Solemnly, the song was sang without music. It was a powerful moment in remembrance and solidarity.

In France, Veterans Day is observed as Armistice Day (Jour de l’Armistice) on November 11th each year. It commemorates the signing of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, at 11:00 AM. The day is a public holiday and is dedicated to honoring those who died in the war as well as all military veterans.
