Today I found out a new method for how to speak to a live Employment Development Department representative on the phone.

Step 1: dial (800) 300-5616
Step 2: press 1 for English
(Listen to the voice message. The wait is about 1 minute and 4 seconds)
Step 3: press 24

If it tells you “thank you…call back again later” redial and follow the steps above again until you get an estimated wait time.
