Here is one of the most hunted mushrooms. In Latin it is called: Pluteus salicinus. Pluteus salicinus is a European psychedelic mushroom that grows on wood. It is edible after parboiling. This mushroom contains Psilocybin, a hallucinogenic substance. The Psilocybin causes specific psychological, visual and auditory changes, and often a substantially altered state of consciousness.

The Cap is smooth, convex and usually mid gray to dark greyish-brown, with or without blue tints, between 3 to 8 cm in diameter. Caps often have a darker gray central region, sometimes with a slight umbo. The cap flesh is white and firm.
The Gills are free, white at first, becoming pale pink.

The Stem is white 5 to 8 cm long, sometimes slightly bulbous at the base. The stem flesh is white and firm. The stem surface bruises slightly blue-green. Sometimes the stem, at base, is slightly colored yellow, orange or brown. An element that further complicates the correct identification of this fungus.

A correct identification is, of course, made only in the laboratory, when we can also use microscopic characters to evaluate a fungus.
