There are a lot of natural materials that you can make fishing bobbers of floats out of. Feathers are on those natural materials that tend to be freely available and really great for the job, they are also easy to prepare. I found a large goose flight or primary feather next to a local park lake, where Canada geese have their young and generally drop them while they are looking after their young.

120 grit sand paper
125lb stainless solid leader wire
Jewelry pliers
Black thread, either sewing or rod wrapping thread
White acrylic paint
Fluro acrylic ink
Glossy waterproof poly varnish
