Emeritus Professor Ron Baecker will discuss principles for creating successful ethical tech startups and illustrate the tips with Canadian examples. Ron Baecker is an internationally-known author, speaker, and consultant.
He is Emeritus Professor of Computer Science, co-founder and Emeritus Director of the Dynamic Graphics Project, and Founder and Emeritus Director of both the Knowledge Media Design Institute (KMDI) and the Technologies for Aging Gracefully lab (TAGlab) at the University of Toronto. He has been named one of the 60 Pioneers of Computer Graphics, has been elected to the CHI (Computers and Human Interaction) Academy, and has been named an ACM Fellow and a Canadian Digital Media Pioneer. He received the CHI Social Impact Award at CHI2020, is the organizer of the virtual community computers-society.org, and was recently appointed an ACM Distinguished Speaker. He is the author of 7 books, including most recently Computers and Society: Modern Perspectives (OUP, 2019), The COVID-19 Solutions Guide: Health, Wealth, Technology, and the Human Spirit (2020), and.
