Lewis Hamilton received a five-second time penalty in the Austrian Grand Prix after Lando Norris complained about him exceeding track limits on several occasions. The penalty dropped Hamilton from fifth place to seventh at the finish.
The incident occurred on lap 17 of the race, when Norris was chasing Hamilton for fourth place. Norris reported to his team that Hamilton had gone off the track at Turn 10, which is one of the track limits that the FIA were strictly enforcing at the Austrian Grand Prix. The stewards investigated the incident and determined that Hamilton had indeed exceeded track limits, and they issued him with a five-second time penalty.
Hamilton was not happy with the penalty, and he radioed his team to complain about it. He said that he felt the penalty was unfair, and he also said that he thought Norris had also exceeded track limits on several occasions. However, the stewards did not investigate Norris's driving, and Hamilton had to accept the penalty.
The penalty dropped Hamilton from fifth place to seventh at the finish. He was still the top Mercedes driver, as George Russell finished eighth. However, the penalty meant that Hamilton lost out on valuable points in the Drivers' Championship.
After the race, Hamilton said that he was "disappointed" with the penalty, but he said that he would "move on" and focus on the next race. He is currently sixth in the Drivers' Championship, 58 points behind Max Verstappen.
