US Army General Curtis Scaparrotti, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, NATO, paid a visit to Macedonia today and met with the Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska, NATO Coordinator Stevo Pendarovski and Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. Former US Ambassador to Macedonia Phillip T. Reeker (bald head) and now NATO Senior civilian advisor gives PM Zaev a bear hug.
He took no media questions, including one over the shady past of Defence Minister Sekerinska.
It remains contradictory that the US has drawn upon local Macedonian politicians with chequered pasts in order to get Macedonia into NATO - but the country has to change its name in the process to satisfy fellow NATO member Greece’s unreasonable demands and keep Russia out of the Balkans. The use of such Macedonian politicians - many who were originally anti NATO such as Sekerinska- reveals there are no principles or morality underpinning US motive in having Macedonia join NATO at all cost, including loss of Macedonian identity.
