Day 1. We did the round trip starting from UAE, entered through Hatta border and stayed first night in Sohar.
Day 2. Travelled through Route 8 to reach Sun Rise resort which is around 3000 meters above sea level
Day 3. Visited Jebel Shams (highest mountain in Oman) nearby viewpoints and stayed overnight in Al Hamra - a small town at the below of Jebel Shams mountain.
Day 4. We visited the old and picturesque city Nizwa, nearby castles - Bahla fort and Jibreen castle.
Day 5. This was the day of Eid ul Adha. We traveled through route 32, a deserted highway, from Nizwa to Dukm, around 450 kilometers. Just before proceed to our hotel, we visited archaeological rock formation "The rock garden"
Day 6. Spent couple of hours in swimming pool after wake up and then had a delicious breakfast at hotel. We started towards Salalah through Shuwaimiyah, Hasik. This route is so scenic that I decided to drive back as we could not enjoy it completely because sunset took place after we drove around 20 percent of the road. Reached Salalah at 10 pm.
Day 7. We drove through route 47, the beach-side road to reach Dhalkut which is the last town before Yemen border. The road goes through windy mountains with numerous hairpin turns.
Day 8. Visited nearby sinkholes, view points, archaeological site in Salalah.
Day 9. Drove back through route 47 to Shuwaymiyah to enjoy the scenic road which we missed on day 6. From Shuwaymiyah, we drove through route 39 and route 31 to reach Ibri. These routes goes through the famous "Empty Quarter" which has number of oil plants. This was a hell of a drive totaling 1100 kms.
Day 10. Visited nearby beehive like tombs which are settlements from 3rd millennium BCE. Then we proceed to border again, crossed check points, had our lunch and return to home.
