"Bolshevik Leaves Home", also known as "When Dear Mother Accompanied Me" and "The Seeing Off of Vanya", was one of the first Red Army marching songs ever written, being written when the Red Army was first being created during the Russian Revolution, in 1918. The song saw little use after the Russian Civil War, with it being used occasionally during World War II and sometimes today by Russian Communists and Soviet nostalgists.
