We spent almost six months overlanding Mexico with our Toyota Tacoma and Four wheel Camper combo and we saw some amazing sights, but its finally time to move on. But Before we leave Mexico behind we want to bring to you some of the most epic and awesome overland drives we found.
For all Pan American enthusiasts:

Baja is known for its epic overland scene when thousands of travelers from all over the world congregate here in the winter months. The vast open road, amazing beaches, and unique carefree culture is unlike anywhere in the world. Baja is home to a 1000 kilometer drive that goes north to south, with as many side roads as you feel like doing with an unlimited amount of amazing camp sites, for both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive vehicles.
The second place on the list is the crazy highway from Mazatlán to the city of Durango
This crazy epic drive is highway 40 and is known as one of the greatest motorcycle drives in all of Mexico. The road reaches up to 2600 meters with shear cliffs that drop down potentially hundreds of meters as well. This epic high altitude route crosses through 2 mexican states and proably best to do over the course of two days if you want to see it all in detail
The Third drive on this list is highway 120 through the Sierra Gorda Bioreserve in the State of San Louis de Potasi. From the city of Bernal to the city of Xilitla this epic drive takes you to over 2400 meters in the Sierra Gorda mountain range. Our first time in such a lush and green place in Mexico, we are in awe of the beautiful views as well as the local points of interest within the biosphere like waterfalls and springs. Special cities like Pinal De Amoles and Jalpan de Serra, (which is a pueblo magico) are interesting cities in the park with a lot of history.
The Fourth drive on this list is is the 40 kilometer drive from the Baja highway to the small city of Puerto Agua Verde and his rough road is the only way in and out of this area. Bumpy and full of massive rocks, this road is not for the feint of heart, but once you're at the end this could possibly be the greatest campsite in all of Baja, on a sand bar jutting out into the Sea of Cortez. Often you can find many other travelers here as well, so bring a few extra drinks and prepare for some campfire stores, you're in Agua Verde now!
The last drive brings us to highway 85, in-between the cities of Xilitla and Ixmikilpan in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. Don't underestimate this 250 kilometer drive, there are almost no services along this road and only a couple of small villages. This drive is incredibly epic however, surrounded by mountain ranges as far as the eye can see, you'll never get bored of the amazing views you'll get while on this road.
The entry way into La Gloria and Grutas Tolantongo, epic switchback cliffs for a few short kilometers. Make sure your brakes are working!
The backroads of Chiapas, the culture here is unlike anywhere else in Mexico which earned it its own place in this video, but also the mountain views and the ruggedness helps.
The drive up Toluca. This Dormant volcano just to the south of Mexico City has amazing views and usually is not too busy, you'll get a great view of the surrounding landscape, especially if you decide to climb around the caldera.
The drive between the active Popocatepetl volcano and the dormant sister volcano Itzaccihuatl. A refreshingly smooth ride between these two volcanos up a winding mountain path leads to the amazing site of watching the active volcano do its thing. You can also climb the dormant volcano if you feel like braving the 5000m altitude!
We are almost twelve months into this trip and have driven in Canada, USA, and Mexico, don't forget to check out the rest of the channel and see how we got here!
