NIO has started European deliveries as planned for the 2023 NIO EL7, a model known as the ES7 in China and renamed in Europe at the last minute before its launch due to a lawsuit with Audi.

The NIO EL7 is only available with a mechanical configuration that uses two motors and gives it an all-wheel drive. The front develops 245 hp (180 kW) and the rear 408 hp (300 kW), to develop a combined power of 653 hp and a maximum torque of 850 Nm (627 pound-feet), accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds.

The system is powered by a 150 kWh capacity battery that gives it a range of 930 kilometers (778 miles), but it will also be offered with smaller batteries, one of 75 kWh and another of 100 kWh.

The entry-level 75 kWh unit will deliver 485 kilometers (301 miles) of range, while the 100 kWh Long Range Battery increases the distance to 620 kilometers (385 miles).

If you buy the battery with the car, the NIO EL7 will cost 88,900 euros with 75 kWh and 97,900 euros with 100 kWh.

The only drawback then is that you can’t use the swap stations. If you want it, the EL7 costs 76,900 euros and you pay a monthly fee for the battery. For 75 kWh you pay 169 euros per month, for 100 kWh the amount is 289 euros per month.

At that kind of price point, the Nio EL7 is a rival to other large premium electric SUVs like the Audi Q8 e-tron and the Mercedes EQE SUV.
