(9 Jan 2015) The bodies of 48 victims of the AirAsia plane crash have now been recovered as search and recovery efforts continued in the Java Sea on Friday.
The plane's black boxes have still not been found, with search efforts hampered by strong currents and blinding silt over the past few days.
They are believed to still be in the recently discovered tail of the crashed plane.
The flight data and cockpit voice recorders are crucial for determining what caused the jet carrying 162 passengers and crew to vanish on 28 December, halfway into a two-hour flight between Surabaya and Singapore.
On Friday, divers went out on the waters of the Java Sea from the command ship KRI Banda Aceh.
Preparations were also being made to try and retrieve some of the plane's wreckage from the water.
Meanwhile, an Indonesian search and rescue helicopter transported bodies from the crash site to Pangkalan Bun.
The bodies were taken away by ambulance and will be flown later to Surabaya for identification.
In Jakarta, the Head of Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency, Henry Bambang Soelistyo, told reporters that of the bodies recovered on Friday, two had been found "still strapped in their seats" of the plane.
