The aim of anti- ageing procedures is not to see how far I can turn back time, but to ensure that you look fresh, and good for your age. This gives the most harmonious and natural results. Ageing is as individual as you are- some people age faster around the eye area- like myself. Others will loose volume around the mid cheeks - like my brother, and some will have heavy jowls and loss of support in the 30s.
The art of anti-ageing is to combine treatments such as Botox, fillers, energy devices including laser resurfacing for the correction of skin texture, and lift devices such as HIFU or Ultherapy for the treatment of the deeper layers. Skin care then need to be addressed. Products do very little to reverse the ageing process, however AHAs and vitamin A, B and Cs can help prevent ageing. Procedures reverse, products prevent. Don’t get tricked into thinking that products can actually reverse ageing to a huge wow factor.
To correct skin texture- I like the Fraxel 1927 laser, or the Picosure fractional laser if I am treating ethnic skin type. Very poor skin texture can be treated with CO2 or erbium fractional laser resurfacing.
To correct skin tone- Ultherapy, or Themage. I prefer the former. Fully ablative lasers can also work in the correct skin type. Face lifting for extreme cases of skin laxity.
To correct skin volume- dermal fillers. Marked volume loss will do well with Juvederm Voluma, whilst Boletero, Restylane or Juvederm Volbella are my favourite fillers for dark circles and deep tear troughs. In the majority of my patients, I combine lasers, fillers, Ultherapy and Botox to achieve the desired outcomes. Remember, it is the balance between skin texture, tone and volume that gives the best and most natural results.
