US federal agents have arrested Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira in connection with the release of classified documents that included secrets about the Ukraine war. The 21-year-old employee of the Massachusetts Air National Guard was apprehended at his home by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on April 13, 2023. The leaked documents publicised potential vulnerabilities in Ukraine’s air defence capabilities and detailed US eavesdropping on its own allies. Political analysts said the leak has embarrassed Washington and may cause long-term damage to America’s international relationships.
