We recently trekked 75 miles north of Montreal to the Mecaglisse motorsport complex in the dead of winter to attend the Porsche Camp 4 Canada ice driving school. On a crisp day that delivered plenty of snow, we put the 2014 Cayman, 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S to the test under the watchful eyes of legendary Canadian race driver—and lifelong Porsche devotee—Cees Nierop. From learning the proper technique to induce a controlled drift to doing donuts on the skidpad and rallying through the straights at speed, Nierop and the Porsche Camp 4 crew crammed a winter's worth of experience into one action-packed afternoon. And while we've spent a good deal of time on dry tracks before, the extensive ice-driving instruction offered valuable insight into just how capable these iconic machines really are.
