Three Massive Asteroids Approaching Earth in December 2024
This December, three massive near-Earth asteroids are making their way toward our planet! Should we be worried? 🚀
Asteroid 2024 VE7: The largest of the trio, it will come as close as 2.79 million kilometers on December 16. This Apollo-class asteroid’s elliptical orbit won’t bring it close again until 2124.
Asteroid 2024 XY5: Flying by at a distance of 3.5 million kilometers, it’s traveling at a speed of 4.83 km/s.
Asteroid 2024 XE16: The third asteroid will pass at 6.8 million kilometers with a velocity of 3.68 km/s.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and other space organizations are monitoring these cosmic visitors to improve planetary defense strategies. 🌌
