This video details how the Hawk 250 performed on a 700 mile round trip road trip.
Pros:
Solid reliability and performance from the CG230 engine even at 6500-8000 RPMs for hours at a time running 65-70 mph.
Cons:
Your butt can’t take more than 1-1.5 hours with that nice Seat Concepts seat for the TT250. I recommend using the stock Hawk seat along with a Coleman MadDog seat pad from WalMart for $19.95.
Aftermarket MX style footpegs are buzzy at 65-70 mph and will begin to bother you after 45-60 minutes with your toes going to sleep. I recommend just using the stock footpegs with the rubber insert.
Stock handgrips and bars are also buzzy at highway speeds for a long duration. I recommend ProTaper bars & PillowTop grips as well as either bar end weights or bark busters.
You’d do well to have a small windshield if you’ll be doing extended highway riding. The wind will buffet you and beat you up quite a bit if you don’t have a windshield.
In conclusion: the Hawk is very mechanically reliable but you’ll need to make at least the above modifications if you plan on a long distance road trip.
