This hike starts at the Green Creek Trailhead near Bridgeport, California. Access to the Trailhead is via Greek Creek Road (dirt) from Highway 395 just south of Bridgeport.
Hoover Wilderness Area was one of the original 54 Wilderness Areas created with the 1964 Wilderness Act. No vehicles, bicycles or other machinery are allowed and permits are required for camping in Wilderness Areas.
The trail leads you first to Green Lake then continues on to East Lake. Out and back we showed 9 miles total. There are several stream crossings that were easy during our hike July 16, 2021, but 2021 was a very light winter and snow pack is minimal at best. Mosquitoes weren’t too bad on our hike, but water is plentiful so I imagine they can be quite a nuisance at times.
