JICA COVID-19 Webinar Series starting January 2021 brings together various leading health professionals from Japan to share Japan’s knowledge and experience on COVID-19 response and discuss the implications of their work. The webinar is intended primarily for health professionals in low- and middle-income countries.
In the 9th webinar, we focused on “precaution” by wastewater surveillance. Wastewater surveillance is expected to be utilized as an effective surveillance tool to complement traditional surveillance in the presence of unrecognized infections. Three speakers gave an overview of COVID-19 wastewater surveillance in the world, latest research findings and testing methods developed in Japan, and discussed adaptation in low- and middle income countries.
