A yukata is a traditional Japanese garment often referred to as summer kimono. It is made of cotton or lightweight synthetic fabric and left unlined. Worn by both men and women, these unique pieces of clothing are made with straight seams and wide sleeves.
Originally worn as a bathrobe, the humble yukata has gained popularity and can often be seen on guests at outdoor summer festivals, adding a joyous air to any environment with their vivid colors and patterns.
Even though it looks simple, it can be a challenge to correctly dress on your own. Japan House will be highlighting the steps to properly dress oneself, as well as giving tips and techniques on care, maintenance and storage of your yukata.
