Cheston Cold Tablet is also used in the treatment of fever, mild to moderate pains and nasal congestion. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Cheston Cold Tablet are Cetirizine 5mg, Phenylephrine 10mg, and Paracetamol (also known as Acetaminophen)325mg.
Cetirizine acts by blocking histamines which are produced in the body during allergic reactions. Thus by inhibiting these histamines, allergic reactions are controlled or reduced.
Phenylephrine acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors, thus helps to reduce nasal congestion, allergies, fever and reduces swollen blood vessels in the nasal passage, if any.
Paracetamol (or Acetaminophen) primarily acts as an analgesic and an antipyretic agent. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties. It produces its analgesic effects by increasing the pain threshold and antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with Cheston Cold Tablet due to the increased risk of side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, weakness, rashes, nausea, joint pain, severe gastrointestinal bleeding, etc. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you consume alcohol during treatment with Cheston Cold Tablet.
