This 4U Chassis has the flexibility to mix and match single wide and double wide sleds to optimize your workload. The shared infrastructure can be loaded with three types of interchangeable, hot plug sleds:
The C8220, single wide compute sled
The C8220X -- Double wide compute / GPU sled
And the C8000XD -- Double wide storage sled
Both the C8220 and the C 8220X support two Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-2600 V2 series chips. Giving you the ability to have 24 cores per sled.
Both sleds have a total of 16 DIMM slots, with 2 DIMMs per channel and 4 channels per processor, Giving you up to 512 GB of Ram per node. Depending on the choice of cpu, these nodes operate memory with speeds of up to 1866 MT/s with module sizes of up to 32 GBs DDR3 registered RAM. It also supports UDIMMS, low voltage registered memory, and LRDIMMs.
The C8220 Compute Sled can hold 2 x 2.5" SATA SSD hard drives within the sled.
The C8220X also have these mounted 2 x 2.5" Hard drives but additionally supports 4 x 3.5" SAS/SATA Hard Drives or 8 x 2.5" SSD, SAS, SATA, NL SAS Hard Drives. And depending on your configuration, an additional 2 x 2.5" hot plug drives on the front of the sled.
However if you want to trade off density for more hot plug drive capability, the C8000XD will give you up to 12 2.5" or 3.5" Hard Drives or 24 9.5mm thick 2.5" Solid State drives. The design of the C8000XD allows you to pull out a portion of the sled that is mounted on brackets while all the drives stay intact, allowing for easy drive maintenance.
The C8220X can also be configured to support GPGPU/Xeon Phi Card like the NVIDIA K10, K20, or GRID K2, Intel Xeon Phi 5110P or 7120P within the expanded double wide sled in lieu of hard drives.
Up to 4 x 1400W power supplies are located within 2 single wide sleds within the C8000.
On the Front of the C8000 chassis is Status indicator, identification indicator, thermal sensor, Ethernet connector, NIC link activity indicator.
On the front of the C8220 Single Wide Compute Sled are 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 Ethernet connections, BMC Management Port, Serial Connector, VGA connector, power on indicator, Mezzanine Expansion Slot, and Low Profile PCIe expansion Slot.
Additionally, on the C8220X double wide Compute Sled are Hard Drive Indicators, 2 hot plug drive bays, and an additional low profile PCIe expansion slot. However, the 2 hot plug drive bays and 2 PCI expansion cards are not available in the GPGPU configuration.
On the Front of the C8000XD Sled are your power status indicator, identification indicator, and 4 External mini -- SAS connectors.
On the back of the C8000 Chassis are 6 fan modules, 4 ac power sockets, power indicator, identification idicator, BMC Managment port, External PDU connector, service mode button, and fan fault indicators.
The C8220 includes 1 x 8 PCI Express 3.0 custom mezzanine and 1 x16 PCI Express 3.0 half height, low profile, half length slot.
The C8220X double wide compute configuration includes 2 x 8 PCIe 3.0 low profile slots, as well as the 1 x 8 PCIe 3.0 mezzanine slot.
While the GPGPU configuration includes 2 x16 PCIe 3.0 GPGPU slots.
Optinal Infiniband, 1 Gb Ethernet and 10 Gb Ethernet cards are available like the Mellanox Connect x-2 dual port quad data rate InfiniBand mezz, the Intel l350 quad -- port 1 GB low -- profile NIC Adapter, and the Intel 82599 10 Gb Ethernet controller dual -- port Mezzanine.
The C8220 and the C 8220X have optional 6Gbps SAS storage controllers like the LSI 9211-8i add-in RAID controller. Or the PERC H710P and H810 that are only supported with Intel Xeon E5-2600 v2 series chips.
The C8000 Chassis is 6.9 inches tall, 17.6 inches Wide, and 31.9 inches deep. Empty the Chassis weighs 100 lbs. With maximum configuration this Chassis can weigh a total of 225 Lbs.
The C8220 and C8220X Sleds can run various operating systems like Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 R2 Enterprise x64, SP1 (includes Hyper-V®), Microsoft Windows® HPC Server 2008 R2 x64 SP1, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 (includes Hyper-V) , Novell® SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP3, Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 6.4
For Virtualized enviornments, Citrix® XenServer® 5.6 SP2, VMware® vSphere® ESXi™ 5.0 and Microsoft Hyper V Server 2008 R2 SP1 (for the C8220 only)
