GPP vs GMP for Cannabis Quality Assurance
What is GPP? GPP stands for Good Production Practices, which is the framework that Canadian Licensed Producers (LPs) have followed.
What is GMP? Good Manufacturing Processes refers to regulatory guidance that aims for high quality production.
Adhering to these standards result in predictably higher product quality. While GPP is the standard for Canada, producers looking to Europe are required to follow EU GMP guidelines, which include more stringent quality checks.
How is GMP is Different from GPP?
Both GPP and GMP require producers to have standard operating procedures, sanitation programs, systems to track products, and conduct recalls if necessary. GMP compliance is no simple matter.
In addition to GPP and GMP, there is another set of regulations called Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP), that the WHO applies to herbal medicinal products like cannabis.
Implementing GPP or GMP is complicated, which is why it's important to speak with experts, like @groweriq.
