Rothenburg ob der Tauber (German: Rothenburg ob der Tauber) is one of the most popular cities in Germany among tourists, the pearl of the Franconian section of the Romantic Road. Located on the Tauber River. The name of the city is translated from German as “red castle above the Tauber”. The settlement supposedly arose in the 10th century, and the castle (which gave the city its name) was built in the last third of the 11th century.
One of the main attractions of the city is the Nativity Museum - the only Nativity museum in the world, located in the historical center of the city near the market square. Part of the "Christmas Village" complex. “Christmas Village” occupies the territory of five houses. On the territory of the complex there is a path that leads to a square where a large spruce tree is installed. There are garlands, a huge king of nutcrackers, Christmas tree decorations made of wood, glass and tin, and music boxes. Even in summer, the spruce tree is decorated with wooden painted toys. The German Christmas Museum Shop offers Christmas-themed items throughout the year.
