This 38 minute presentation will introduce the non-RF specialist engineer to basic RF system and circuit design principles and key mistakes to avoid. Specific topics include:
• What distinguishes RF design from low frequency RF design,
such as
o Specialized analysis and computer aided design
o Limitations of standard parts and correctly modeling
them at high frequency (Look out for parasitics!)
o Board layout techniques particular to RF
• Basic RF sub-systems and blocks
• IC trends in RF design
• What is RF system design and why it is critical in even simple
RF systems
• What is a link budget and basic link behavior (Guard your
decibels!)
• Basic RF tools
• A basic RF library (Read a few of these, and you will know the
score)
