Learn how to make perfect white rice in a Tatung rice cooker every time! This easy and quick recipe is ideal for beginners and experienced cooks alike.
Step-by-step instructions for 3 cups of rice:
1. Measure the desired amount of rice in the measuring cup that comes with the Tatung cooker. (If you lost it, or you don’t have one you can just add 2/3 cup / 150 ml of rice).
2. Pour the rice into the inner pot of the Tatung rice cooker.
3. Rinse the rice with water 3x.
4. Pour 3 ½ cups of water into the inner pot with the rice.
5. Pour 1 cup of water into the outer pot of the cooker
6. Close the lid of the rice cooker and press down the black "Cook" button.
7. The rice cooker will automatically turn off when the rice is finished cooking.
8. Let the rice sit for 10 minutes without opening it so it will be more moist.
9. Once that’s done you can fluff with a flat rice spatula and serve.
Tips:
* The measuring cup or amount is always ⅔ cup or 150 ml, which is the exact measurement of the measuring cup that comes with all the Tatung cookers.
* For softer and quicker rice that you don’t need to soak, you can add an extra ½ cup of water to the inner pot. For example, I made 3 cups of rice, and added 3 ½ cups of water.
* Many people say that white rice is bad for your blood sugar levels. You can combat this by turning your rice into a resistant starch by refrigerating it the night before and reheating it for the following day.
* To save time, you can make more rice at one time, like I did. I refrigerate it and reheat it for later.
* White rice is easier to digest and is gluten-free.
