Ramayana is one of the two greatest Indian epics. Ramayana was composed by the great sage Valmiki, sometime in or around 5th Century BCE giving a detailed account of Prince Rama's exile, his quest to rescue his beloved wife Sita with the help of an army of monkeys and then his return as a Prince of Ayodhya.
Based in the Treta Yuga, the Ramayana leans more towards an ideal state of things : Ram being Maryada Purushottam, Sita an ideal wife, Lakshman and Bharat the ideal brothers and Hanuman the ideal devotee.
