Crescendos and Decrescendos are done with BOW SPEED, keeping weight and placement consistent. This makes expressive dynamics an issue of bow speed.
The 7 Expressive elements of String Players:
TEMPO = fast or slow
DYNAMICS = loud or soft
TIMBRE = bright or dark
PITCH = high or low
VIBRATO = varied speed, width or pitch
ARTICULATION = hard or soft
DURATION = long or short
